Research Areas

Outstanding scientists and researchers with a Ph.D degree in the relevant discipline of science or technology from a reputable university, are eligible to apply for the TRF.
Research project proposals which are already funded by other agencies or being considered for funding by other agencies are not eligible for funding under the TRF Scheme. The TRF-RF shall not apply for other funding support, unless approval has been given by the TRF funding agency.

Research job for international researchers at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Ghana or Burkina Faso

If you possess both a PhD in Water Resources Management, Agro-ecology, or Ecosystem Sciences, and a sound knowledge of the interface between the livestock, crops and water resource management, with at least five years experience of agricultural/environmental research and development in developing countries, then you could be the person we are seeking for a joint-appointment with the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI).
The research will focus on identifying solutions that enhance environmental and livelihood benefits of integrated water, livestock and crop management strategies and mitigate negative effects, such as land and water degradation and conflicts.
This is an internationally recruited position for an initial appointment of three years with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual performance and the availability of funding.
You will:
• implement research at local, national and regional scales to understand livestock-water interactions and system functioning and
productivity, and provide solutions that enhance the synergies and minimize trade-offs between livestock and diverse other water uses in the context of livelihood and environmental dimensions
• integrate the research on biophysical issues with findings on social, policy and institutional dimensions to generate new knowledge on the sustainable management of water and livestock resources that would minimize negative externalities like conflicts and resource degradation.
• use this knowledge to develop, with policy makers, communities and development / natural resource partners, technical, policy and institutional interventions to improve the productive use of water, resilience and adaptive capacity of coupled human – livestock – environment aspects of (agro-)pastoral and mixed crop-livestock farming systems
• engage in mobilizing resources to support this research and contribute to capacity building and communication of research findings.
You must possess:
• a PhD in Water Resources Management, Agro-ecology, or Ecosystem Sciences
• a sound knowledge of the interface between the livestock, crops and water resource management
• at least five years experience of agricultural/environmental research and development in developing countries
• a systems perspective especially related to issues of water productivity and sustainability in the context of agro-pastoral and mixed
crop livestock systems
You must know about:
• quantitative applied research methods, and strong quantitative and analytical background
• analysing water productivity in agricultural systems, including field based application of water balance models
• processes impacting on livestock systems evolution in Africa
You must have:
• a good publications record with strong written and oral communication skills in English and at least a sound working knowledge of French
• a good track record of field based research, with some experience in developing and managing partnerships
• proven skills to work in multidisciplinary teams and to obtain positive results from working in diverse partnerships at a range of scales including research, extension, and development and in public, private and civil society.
• experience in working with and building the capacity of students

University Scholarships of Florida-Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program

The increasing cost of college education is forcing increasing number of college students to look for some kind of financial aid. There are hundreds of welfare organizations and colleges that provide aid to college students to help them complete their education easily. These organizations are playing a significant role in promoting education in general and fulfilling professional shortages in many fields in particular. Many government funded programs are also performing the same job. One such program is the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship program.

The Florida Bright futures scholarship program was enacted by the legislature in 1997 in Florida. The program was enacted with the aims of providing financial assistance to students that poses excellent academic abilities but are unable to complete their education due to financial difficulties. Theprogram offers three different awards that have different criteria for the applicants, and different deadlines for the application. These three awards are: Academic Scholars Award, the Medallion Scholars Award, and the Gold Seal Vocational Scholars Award. All of these programs have provided aid to hundreds of students since the enactment of thescholarship program.

Both full and part time students can apply for aid under this program. Students will have to show enrollment on a registered course in an accredited college or university to apply for these course. The students must be U.S citizens and must complete the financial aid application form to apply for the program. The students will also have to meet individual requirements and deadlines of the scholarship award they are applying for. These requirements are set out by the program each year. If a student qualifies for the aid the student will have to attend his or her degree program with good attendance, if student misses lectures or withdraws from the course the aid will be revoked.

The program has a unique method of providing aid to scholars; it provides aid to students based on their credit hours in the course.
